Which Kind of Wall Art Is Right For You?
A Brief Guide to Help You Shop
ORIGINAL ART: The Ultimate. The actual painting. An original lives and breathes. (Seriously-- It Breathes!) Miniatures make collecting original art affordable and fit any space. A large painting can define a room. Trust us: Original art is an incredibly rewarding acquisition that you won't regret. Originals ship free unless noted.
ENHANCED PRINTS: The Absolute BEST in prints. Editions of One. I paint on top of the print, add detail, color nuances, texture. I even paint over my original signature, then sign it again. Most are embellished with pastels on heavy fine art paper; those on museum grade canvas, I do in oils. Elegant, time-intensive to create and significantly more valuable any other prints. Each "remarque" ships free, right from the studio. Allow a few days for smaller sizes, up to a month for biggies or added framing.
SIGNED EDITIONS: NICE! High end prints with added value (my special signature--wow! a real artist signed this!) My top choice for small to medium-sized decorator art. Most are on fine art paper, most are matted to fit readymade frames. All limited editions have backing boards and come in clear, resealable bags--perfect for gifting. Fast production time --these are done in the studio on receiving your order and ship within a few days. Ask us to frame it, gift wrap it, enclose a note.
OPEN EDITIONS: AFFORDABLE Decorator art in the widest selection of subjects, sizes and surfaces. Order "just the print", or mat and/or frame it. While large sizes will lack the crisp detail of a smaller edition or enhanced print, this is a non-issue when viewing art a few feet away. These ship straight from my California printer to you, so usually allow about a week's production time, plus another week in transit. You can find Merch items under the surface option dropdown menu on Open Editions.

~ Lindy and Jim Severns, Fort Davis, Texas
Lindy has "an amazing ability to capture both the bold colors and dramatic formations of the far West Texas landscape, but also the subtle variations in light and shading... she can skillfully present the grandest of vistas, but she also equally masters the most delicate details of sand, rock, and grass. She is particularly adept at painting the western sky in all of its drama and color. When I look at Lindy’s work, I feel an immediate kinship with her vision and love of the western landscape."
- Michael Duty, author, art historian, Director, ret: Art of the American West, Heritage Auction Gallery
Big Bend Artist Lindy Cook Severns paints real places in the wild American west, high desert ranch lands of Far West Texas and Big Bend country. Her art hangs in most every state in the USA, in international collections and at the New York Stock Exchange. Featured in the 2016 PBS documentary WESTERN PERSPECTIVE, and in the definitive book TEXAS TRADITIONS, CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS OF THE LONE STAR STATE 2010, the southwest landscape painter lives on a remote working ranch in the Davis Mountains near Ft Davis and Marfa with husband Jim, two stubbornly affectionate rescued terriers and a cranky African Grey parrot who passionately loves art. Her workspace, Old Spanish Trail Studio sits across the road from Old Spanish Trail Gallery and Museum, where Lindy is the Artist-In-Residence and Jim is head of hangings.
Lindy is the recipient of the 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award for the College of Arts & Sciences of Texas Tech University.

WHAT LINDY COOK SEVERNS COLLECTORS SAY: ("She's the real thing. Go for it!")
Oh Lindy! It’s 1:00 in the morning in Switzerland (I’ve got jet lag and can’t sleep). And I have tears in my eyes now (upon seeing the photo you just sent of our finished painting.) To my mind the Davis Mts are heaven on earth. You’ve captured it here. Thank you - this made my year. All best wishes for now - it’s beyond lovely. - T.H.
Your pastels capture the colours ...of the Big Bend better than any I've seen by a long chalk... and if the colours aren't right, the atmosphere isn't right... I want to purchase The River Road for my collection. (Q: After I pay for it can you hold it for me until I can pick it up in person and take it home on the plane? A: Of course!)
-Dr. Wm, London & Yorkshire
Rob and I are so pleased with the masterpiece which is now hanging proudly in its new home... It's truly much more dramatic and beautiful in person than the photos give it credit for...so many vivid colors and detail! I feel as if I could walk right into it and keep hiking along the arroyo towards the mountains.

Lindy, I picked up Crossing at Dawn. It looks wonderful over the mantel in our living room. I am sure you will agree that it is a bit risky purchasing art without actually seeing it in the "flesh". I am glad I took that risk because I am even more delighted with it than I thought I would be. It's amazing how you bring the motion of the water to life. I love the life like way the it spills over the rocks and eddies calmly in the still places. You capture this dualistic nature of water amazingly. I also love the way the dawn light is just beginning to dance on the water and reeds. While carrying the memory of the passing night in the deep shadows of the brush the painting also suggests the imminent glory of the coming day--a promise of good things to come. Thank you for allowing me to have that moment without having to get up so early. Also, Thank you again for allowing me to take my time paying. D.N. in Oregon
