I've been drawing flowers and plants forever. My grandmother, an avid Houston gardener, passed on her passion for blossoms and leaves and bark. Studying botany at Texas Tech added depth to my love of plants. My flower drawings are often done as heavily layered, burnished colored pencils, which lend themselves to expressing color and detail. Nature paintings in oils and soft pastels bloom with life. Plein air studies, done on location are rendered in graphite, ink, watercolor or pastel pencils. This collection shares the lively joy of sprouting, growing and flowering. ā€‹Do be careful of thorns when you stop to smell the cactus.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT CUSTOM ORDER OPEN EDITIONS

Bay Photo, a California fine art company creates Lindy's open edition prints on archival fine art papers, canvas, metal and decorator surfaces.

When in doubt, consider duplicating the original surface. Most of Lindy's original art, including oil paintings are done on smooth surfaces, making smooth fine art paper a default medium. Watercolors look terrific on watercolor paper.  Some of Lindy's oils are on rough canvas, so strongly consider canvas for those. Popular decorator options: metal, wood and acrylic printing surfaces are also offered. As you build your custom print, you'll be able to see how each option affects the cost.

Matting and framing are other options. Mats are only offered in soft white. If you know you want colored mats, order the Just the Print option, then let your framer help you customize your mat.

Art on paper should always be sealed under glass or acrylic glazing. If you choose fine art paper, the frame will automatically include fine art acrylic glazing to protectively seal your artwork. Canvas and other media don't require glazing, so consider those media for larger prints.

Two types of fine art paper are offered. Watercolor Paper is lightly textured and the most affordable of the two; Smooth Fine Art Paper comes in much larger sizes. Both are heavy weight, acid-free papers. You can't go wrong with either.

Our wall preview feature will show you exactly what the art will look like hanging actual size. You can even preview it on your own wall! Play around with these choices -- choosing is half the fun of ordering here! Opening your box, then hanging customized artwork is just the beginning of the joy surrounding yourself with art can bring.

Great things take time. Because each fine art print is a custom order, please allow between five to fifteen business days production time, plus up to a week for free ground shipping. Add-on expedited shipping options are available at checkout. Since these aren't done in-house, there's is no way to speed up production time.

If your artwork is a gift, you can email Lindy and request she mail the recipient a handwritten fine art card explaining the art is being created and shipped. We'll even print your chosen artwork on the front of the card!

Description from Merchant:

We want Lindy Cook Severns art to last for generations. All prints, whether open editions or uniquely embellished remarques are done on with archival (acid-free, non-reactive) ink and papers and matted in acid-free matboard. Original art, from the smallest drawings and watercolors to the largest oils and pastel paintings are done on archival surfaces. Lindy uses the highest grade pigments in each medium. Light-fastness of pigments is further protected by covering all but all paintings in artist grade UV protective glazing, whether glass or acrylic. Conservation framing on original art means no reactive materials come in contact with the artwork, so all tape and backing boards are acid free and create a barrier for the artwork.
