Each Open Edition prints as a custom order: choose the surface, size the art to fit your wall and budget. Optimal sizes are listed, but larger sizes may be requested. Give me a shout for assistance! These prints & merch items ship directly from the printer.
There's lots going on in this, our largest and most affordable collection of art. Here are some hints to help you navigate:
- for Frame Choices select: 1 SURFACE | 2 SIZE | 3 STYLES -- under Styles, select FRAMED PRINT. Mat options will then appear, along with several pages of frames for you to consider. Need advice? Ask!
- Is this a GIFT? Request a hand-written notecard of that artwork to announce your gift & say it's being produced especially for them and will arrive soon, and we'll snail mail it to you or the recipient! We can't gift wrap it though because it will ship straight from the printer to the address you specify.
Tips on Selecting a Surface For Your Print
- smooth fine art paper always works: This is the middle price point for open edition prints. Elegant and traditional.
- watercolor paper: This least expensive medium, a heavy, high quality surface best for reproducing watercolors
- canvas adds texture: It arrives wired, ready to hang unframed. More expensive than paper. Frame it or not!
- metal and acrylic are sleek: both arrive ready to hang, pricier but don't need framing; acrylic works outdoors. ā
A Word About Reflections, Installation and Style:
- Glare from lots of windows? Prints on paper must be framed under a protective glazing surface. Ordinary glass captures reflections. On small pieces this is insignificant, but may be a problem with large art. (If you order your print on paper framed, it comes with acrylic glazing, which WILL reflect. Prints on acrylic are also glossy.*ā
- Stop the Glaring: Custom frame your paper print on paper under non-reflective glazing: museum glass, clear anti-reflective glass, or TruVue museum acrylic . None of those are available on-site. Order it matted or "Just the Print" (Just the Print comes rolled) and let a framer do the rest. *We don't recommend prints on acrylic for high glare areas. ā
- Avoid the Glaring Issue: prints on canvas or metal have matte finishes and need no protective glazing
- What's your decorating style: Classic dictates canvas or fine art paper. Contemporary loves metal or acrylic. Use our wall preview tools to help you decide what works for your space.
- Outdoor installations, spa areas, kids' rooms? Go metal or acrylic.
- fit your budget along with your wall As you build your custom print, you'll be able to see how each option affects the cost. Go back and forth all you want.
- How big? Mats and frames add significantly to the footprint (wall size) of your art. Our wall preview tools display the art in the framed or matted dimensions -- even if the frame or mat doesn't display, the art will show true to that total size. A small print matted and framed can double in size on your wall.
Your open edition will ship to you directly from our printing house. Great things take time. WHAT IS AN OPEN EDITION?
Open Editions have no second artist signature, no numbering added to the margin but Lindy's original signature is already on the art being reproduced. Lindy's prints are reproduced singly, each as a custom order.
Looking for something truly one-of-a-kind but more affordable than an original? Consider an Enhanced Print, Limited Original instead of an Open Edition.
What's the difference between an Enhanced Print and an Open Edition Print?
- Enhanced Prints are extremely (way way extremely!) limited signed editions, each one a unique artwork with limited size options and only available on paper or canvas. Hand-repainted and detailed with pastels or oils on top of the fine art print. Lindy paints out her original signature and adds a new one on the art.
- Open Editions are printed on demand on several surfaces and in a vast range of sizes. Lindy doesn't have a chance to sign them because they straight to you from the printer. But the signature is already there on the print, of course.ā
- Open Editions are the same format (shape) as the original artwork and many include non-standard sizes that will require custom framing
- Enhanced Prints may be cropped to fit standard proportions or proportional to the original art. Standard and non-standard sizes, depending on the original format. ā
-
- Open Editions can be ordered matted and or framed, or as "Just the Print". Canvas, metal and acrylic don't need mats or frames, though canvas can easily be conventionally framed
- Enhanced Prints in most small to middle standard sizes come in off-white conservation mats that fit readymade frames. Frames are not available within your order. Non-standard and large sizes are not matted. (We can have a conversation about ordering a custom frame for you separately, for an additional fee.)ā
-
- Enhanced Prints take about 3 days production time for smaller, standard sizes, which are first printed in the studio. Larger ones and remarques on canvas can take up to a month, because we must first have the print made and shipped to the studio. Then comes time-intensive and extensive repainting to make it unique!
- Open Edition Prints are reproduced from the original art without further attention from the artist. Allow up to 14 days production time plus a few days shipping. Canvas, metal and acrylic may take longer than paper.
-
- Enhanced Prints ship directly from the studio. Gift wrapping and customization is available on request.
- Open Editions are printed and ship directly from the printing house in North Carolina. We never get our hands on these before they reach you, so we can't gift wrap.
